Program change: The Needle Drop

The internet's busiest music nerd is taking a break from radio for a while.  In this video, an exhausted Anthony Fantano eats raisins and explains that The Needle Drop continues on the web site and youtube.  If a radio show resumes--possibly in September 2013--it will be a talk show.

Today's will be the last episode of Sundry Lunch, a long-running favorite here at WNJR. Community volunteer Ben Sievers has led listeners on a great journey of "new music discovery" for the past several years.  We will miss his steady presence and discerning taste in music!

Tune in at noon today to catch Sundry Lunch, then stay tuned for The Chris Teagarden Show at 1:00--Chris' show today will be a tribute to Ben.

Good News: Johnny Morgan

Check out this great press about John Friedmann '02 in yesterday's Washington Observer-Reporter: DA by Day, DJ by Night. John was the station manager while he was a student at W&J and now hosts The Johnny Morgan Show, Thursday nights at 6:00 pm as a WNJR community volunteer. The article is by O-R Editorial Page Editor Brad Hundt, who is also a community volunteer.  Brad Hundt's Mixtape can be heard on Friday nights at 6:00 pm.

Bad News: Al Jazeera

The Pacifica Radio Network will cease distribution of Al Jazeera English in August 2013.  It is part of a reorganization of Al Jazeera in anticipation of their debut on U.S. television as Al Jazeera America.  This may lead to a reorganization of the news schedule here at WNJR too--more on that soon.
