Hey all, it's New Music Monday! This week, I wanted to give you all an update on what I've been listening to lately, including a lot of new music as well as some favorites that are really blowing up right now. Enjoy!
Roses - The Chainsmokers feat. ROZES
This track off The Chainsmoker's latest EP "Bouquet" is becoming more and more popular - surely their biggest hit since "#SELFIE," and rightfully so. The varying rhythms and beats build into a song you can really jam to... I know from experience.
Champagne and Pools - Hoodie Allen feat. Blackbear and KYLE
Hoodie's latest single off his upcoming album is relaxing, clever, and everything you'd want in a track with features from Blackbear and KYLE. Catch these three amigos touring together in the spring!
Ego - Bibi Bourelly
Though I had never heard of Bibi Bourelly prior to stumbling upon this song, I'm definitely a fan now. Powerful lyrics and Bibi's unique voice come together perfectly on this track.
Upgrade - Logic
Logic's new album, "The Incredible True Story" is, in my opinion, beyond words. This is one of my favorite tracks from the rapper's newest release, with a calming back beat and his quick, witty lyrics that make your head spin.
Before I Ever Met You - Banks
Jillian Rose Banks' voice is the epitome of dark R&B on this track. With lyrics about betrayal, loss, and memories, Banks put her soul into these vocals - and it shows.
Lay It All On Me - Rudimental feat. Ed Sheeran
This song by two of my favorite UK artists is becoming increasingly popular in the US, and for good reason - Ed Sheeran's versatile voice pairs flawlessly with Rudimental's funk-infused instrumentals.
Memories That You Call - ODESZA (PETIT BISCUIT Remix)
ODESZA is, without a doubt, one of my favorite artists. The DJ duo's album "In Return" is one of my favorites, so needless to say I've listened to its entirety numerous times. This new remix is lovely, and blesses ODESZA fans with a new take on one of the pair's greatest hits.
Talk Back - Kembe X (produced by Hippie Sabotage)
If I haven't mentioned it before, I fell in love with Hippie Sabotage after seeing them open for CHERUB in October. They were incredibly interactive with the crowd, and they put on one of the best DJ sets I've seen. This new hip-hop/rap track is different from their usual projects because it was produced for another artist, but it still does not disappoint!
Aftershock - NGHTMRE & Boombox Cartel
This song starts with some slow piano melody that sounds like it could be playing in a fancy restaurant somewhere, but quickly builds into an upbeat EDM track - then doubles back and morphs into a bass heavy drop that makes this track worthy of its title.
In My Room - Yellowclaw feat. Ty Dolla $ign & Tyga
Yellow Claw's new album "Blood for Mercy" is full of upbeat bangers and dance tracks, and this song most certainly doesn't stray from the theme. Hot lyrics from Ty Dolla $ign and Tyga pair wonderfully with Yellow Claw's fast, electric dance breakdowns.
Something Better - Audien feat. Lady Antebellum
Signed to Astralwerks, Audien is in good company with Alison Wonderland and Halsey, two of my favorite artists. Though he isn't the most popular DJ (yet), I have a feeling this beautiful EDM track with one of county's most popular artists will make his name well-known in the realm of house music.
Rolling In the Deep - Adele (Jamie xx Shuffle) feat. Childish Gambino
A fresh, remixed take of a classic Adele song... what more could one ask for? Oh that's right, a feature from my favorite rapper Childish Gambino! The Xx's Jamie xx did an incredible job on this shuffle, and Gambino's verse is nothing short of amazing. I've had this on repeat for days.
Guns and Roses - Bohnes
Who remembers The Cab? Ya know, "Whisper War" pop rock band from 2008 fronted by Alexander DeLeon? The middle schooler in me freaked the heck out when she found out that Alex DeLeon has gone solo under the name Bohnes... then freaked out some more when she listened to this single.
LA Devotee - Panic! at the Disco
Every time Panic! releases another single from their upcoming album "Death Of A Bachelor," I weep a little because January 15th just isn't soon enough. Brendon Urie's flawless voice sounds, well, flawless on this song released over the weekend. I truly cannot wait to hear the rest of the album.
Tune in to Bad Dance Moves tonight at 10 PM on WNJR to hear some of these songs and more! You don't want to miss it.
