Spotlight on Ravneet Singh!

Salutations beautiful people! Today we're shining a spotlight on one of WNJR's own, Mr. Ravneet Singh or as some of you may know him as: The Ravanator, which is his alter ego when hosting his show Video Game Music at 9:00pm on Thursdays. Rav is WNJR's Technology Director among other things.  He does an amazing job of making sure we don't go crazy when any of us are faced with technological issues. You may also recognize Rav because he actually attends DubJay! Big surprise everyone! Rav is a sophomore and is majoring in Computer Science. So whenever you see him on campus don't be afraid to say hello!

Gaming Den

Hey, Hey, Hey, Everybody
Welcome to the Gaming Den

There are many forms of fast transportation in video games from Side-Strafing in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, to sports cars in GTA, but one of the silliest forms of transportation would have to be the Boar in Nier.

The first part of this silliness is how you first get the chance to ride this Boar. In the town near by a citizen complains that there is a boar causing havoc and requests you to subdue it, and to collect it's tusk. Once you do so the citizen explains that with the tusk you are able to ride boars in the area. So, all it takes to ride a boar is to have a boar's tusk, No training required, that is just plain silly.

Ok then, so now you are able to ride boars in the area which is great since the plains is so large. But you are also able to charge in to the wildlife and shades that are in the plains as well along with the unwieldy movement that the boar has.  Everything about this boar just seems like the developers threw it in the game for laughs.

If you would like to know more about Nier head over to my previous post here to read up on a little of the backstory.

Tune in Thursday's at 9pm to listen to The Ravanator for Video Game Music from Nier on wnjr.org or 91.7 FM

Thrival Festival

TOMORROW IS FRIDAY!

Are you excited?
Why, do you have awesome plans with your awesome friends to soak up each others awesomeness?

Well I don't, and if you don't actually have plans or the plans you do have or lame you should probably go to Thrival Music Festival.  It starts at 2:00 pm tomorrow in Hazelwood, and a two-day pass for general admission is $35!  Which is certainly getting the bang for your buck, considering so many rad artists are going to be performing.  A weekend in the city listening to quality live music? A recipe for success, Am I right? (I'm not being sarcastic I promise).

Check out thrivalfestival.com for more information.  Since I can't attend, I'm living vicariously through you guys. Please, I'm depending on you! Go have me some fun!

Artist Spotlight: Mikky Ekko

Some of you may recognize him from the hit single "Stay" featuring superstar Rihanna. Others may know him as the soulful singer who knows how to write a hit single. Well, Mikky Ekko is his name. His single "Stay"(which he originally wrote for himself) was given to Rihanna and helped his rise to fame in 2013. And now, he is featured on WNJR Radio! Tune into 91.7 FM for a listen!

Amina's Room with a View

Hello everybody, I hope you're having a great Wednesday. I just wanted to let you guys know that next Saturday, October 3rd, will be the first airing of Amina's Room with a View. For all those who may not remember or are new audience members, my show has two segments: the first segment is a review of a book and the second segment is a review of a movie of my choice, that I have read and seen.  But something new I'm trying this year is to bring in guests to discuss with me their likes and dislikes of certain movies and books. I will also try to start playing several songs from the soundtrack of the movie being presented that day. So please tune in on Saturdays at 9 starting October 3 to listen in. Thank you guys and have a great day!

Gaming Den

Hey, Hey, Hey, Everybody!!
Welcome to the Gaming Den.

It has been a summer and I am glad to get back on campus and on WNJR.
This time around I will be talking about a Video Game that apparently has a very good soundtrack and that is Nier.

The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where the apocalypse wasn't zombies or nukes but Black Magic caused by a Grimoire Noir. The story starts with you taking care of your daughter, Yonah, who has become infected with the Black Scrawl, where it is basically all of the pain in Pandora's box with ancient black lettering appearing on the body when the pain is being caused. Yonah not wanting to be cooped up inside went out to explore, looking for a flower in a story that the father said the night before. During the trek to find your daughter you come across really sassy book called the Grimoire Weiss and he disdainfully helps you save your daughter. Weiss then mentions that he could cure Yonah but he needs 'Sealed Verses'. Now the adventure begins to find the 'Sealed Verses' and ride giant Boars, more on that next time.
